Richard & Becky are the parents of Sarah and Rachel which we took pictures of just before Christmas. They were having their 30th Anniversary and decided to have their portraits made. We stayed in Forney this time and got up early to beat the heat, but apparently not early enough because it got pretty hot. We had a great time with them going around the Cotton Mill and around downtown.

Meet William, a son of another speech pathologist that works with my wife. They wanted some pictures made for Father’s Day. So we took them to Kid’s Quest in Mesquite to take pictures at the playground.

We had the great opportunity to take family portraits of some friends of ours at the Dallas Arboretum. It was a little crowded but the weather was great. The kids made it a really fun time cause they just ran and we got to take some candid pictures of them playing. It was a really fun time and a great session.

Brooke’s Two Month Portraits

Well it’s already been two months since our little girl was born and I just can’t believe how fast it has gone by. Everyday she is changing and growing up, which is scary. She’s starting to do more and interact more with us which is very exciting. So we found time to take some new portraits of her and we really like how they turned out. I haven’t finished all of them yet but here are a couple of our favorites.

This is Sarah’s sister Rachel that we were taking pictures of for a Christmas present. A little late notice but we got it done. Today was pretty cold and windy so we didn’t stay out too long.

Family Portraits

We just took some family pictures of my wife and her mom at a park in North Dallas. It’s a really nice park for natural light and a green background.

Once again, I shot exclusively with our 50mm f/1.4. This time I generally had it stopped down to an f/2.8. On a few of the shots I had to stop down even further to keep both of them in focus. Overall, the pictures turned out nice.

I tried a new Picture Control setting that I had downloaded from the Nikon website. I used the Dx2 Profile I for those who know what I’m talking about. I wanted to see the difference between that profile and the D2X Profile III. In my initial looks I believe I prefer the Profile III. The profile I used for this shoot came out too flat. The colors were muted and there wasn’t much contrast to any of the pictures. While this is fixable, I’d like to get alot closer to my finished product straight from the camera instead of relying on alot of post processing. I won’t be using that profile for any of our portraits in the future.
