Jessica’s Senior Portraits

Jessica came to us for her Senior Portraits through her friend Meaghan which we took pictures of not too long ago. We decided to head to City Lake Park in Mesquite, which we’d never been to for portraits. We walked around and had a good time taking pictures. After the park we head over to the square in Downtown Mesquite and took some more pictures around the buildings and by our favorite wall. It was pretty hot and humid but we got some cloud cover which made it nice.

This last Friday we got the chance to take some pics of a senior from here in Forney. We went to our familiar railroad tracks in Mesquite and then around the old cotton mill in Forney. He was very embarrassed to be taking the pictures outside with all the people he knew passing by. We had a great time and the pics turned out great.

Meaghan’s Senior Portraits

We were able to take Meaghan’s senior portraits this last Saturday in Richardson and they turned out great. We headed to a park just west of 75 where they have a really nice waterfall and park area. They also have a couple nice bridges. The weather was really nice which made the portraits go great.

Taylor’s Senior Portraits

This last weekend we were able to take senior portrait’s of Taylor and we had a great time. We headed to Kaufman where we walked around by the square and found some pretty places to shoot. After that we headed to some railroad tracks for a few more shots. It was a cloudy, windy day which isn’t always the best weather for shooting outdoors but the lighting turned out to be absolutely beautiful and the wind added a little extra movement to some of the shots. Overall it went great and we got some really good shots.

Ashlee & Luke Senior Portraits

Here are some senior portraits of Ashlee and Luke that we took recently. It was quite a windy day so the reflector turned into a sail alot of the time, which made it difficult to bounce the light where we wanted. But, overall I think they turned out great.

Janie’s Senior Portraits

We met up with Janie Saturday morning for Senior portraits in downtown Mesquite. The wall that we started out by doesn’t have a building or anything to block the sky as a reflector so all the light was really diffused and soft. This is the first time that we shot the whole day with only the Nikon 50mm f/1.4 and gold reflector. I wasn’t sure how much the 50mm would limit the kind of shots we got but it turned out great. We shot for the most part f/2 – f/2.8, which made for great bokeh and a really short depth-of-field. A couple of times dof turned out to be too short and the picture ended up being focused on something different.

This was also the first time that we used the reflector since we got it. The reflector proved to be priceless because we were able to shoot with her back to the sun, which produced a nice hair/key light, and reflect the nice golden light back up at her. While from time to time we did blind her, the shots turned out great.

After the wall we went to the train tracks which proved to be a nice location because it was away from most everything and gave a really nice non-distracting backdrop. From there we went to the jungle gym, which I had seen a few weeks earlier and thought it would be a nice location with grassy field behind. Lastly we ended up at the cotton mill in downtown. We weren’t the only photographers there that day but we managed to dance around each other and get the shots that we wanted.
